Wistmans wood is a very old woodland stretching back over a thousand years, the woodland lies near a river in a very damp part of the moor, it's these damp conditions which have caused lichens to cover the tree sapping their energy and causing them to grow smaller in these twisted and unique shapes. The druids were also said to worship at the woodland
