Ponte dei Salti is a medieval stone arch bridge that spans the Verzasca River in the Verzasca Valley of the Swiss canton of Ticino, close to the Italian border, and is one of the most photographed bridges in Switzerland for good reason. The bridge follows the classic Roman arch construction style, with two rounded arches rising from a central pier set directly in the river, and the water flowing beneath it is a remarkable shade of teal blue, coloured by the glacial minerals carried down from the surrounding alpine peaks. This photography print was captured using a 16-minute long exposure, a technique that removes all movement from the scene — in this case clearing the bridge of tourists entirely and rendering the fast-moving Verzasca River as a smooth, glassy surface that contrasts with the rough texture of the ancient stone.
