Comet Neowise flies above Kingswear Daymark - Night time space photography
Perched on the headland above the entrance to the Dartmouth estuary on the South Devon coast, the Kingswear Daymark is one of those landmarks that rewards a visit at any hour — but at 1am on a clear July night in 2020, it became the perfect foreground for something far rarer. Comet Neowise, passing some 70 million miles above the Earth's surface, arced across the sky above the navigational tower in a scene that combined Devon's coastal heritage with one of the most significant celestial events of the decade.
