It is late autumn, and while the evergreens around it hold their colour as they always do — steady, indifferent to the season — the birch has turned. Its leaves have gone from green to gold to a deep, burning amber, and in the flat, soft light of a Dartmoor autumn day, that colour blazes against the dark backdrop of the conifers with an intensity that stops you in your tracks. I liked this image due to the back-drop of Evergreens and how the birch's strong autumnal colour make it pop in the scene.
