Lagangarbh Cottage sits at the eastern end of Glencoe, at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mòr — the large pyramidal mountain that marks the entrance to the glen and is one of the most photographed peaks in Scotland. The cottage is a small white-painted building owned by the Mountaineering Club of Scotland, positioned on the south bank of the River Coupall where the white walls sit low against the dark volcanic rock and heather of the hillside, with the mountain rising steeply above. In winter and early spring, when snow covers the upper slopes and low cloud or fog rolls through the glen, the scene takes on a quality that is difficult to replicate at other times of year.
