Stonehenge stands on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, its ring of standing stones and lintels one of the most recognisable prehistoric monuments in the world and a site that has drawn visitors, astronomers and photographers for centuries. In the summer of 2020, Comet C/2020 F3 Neowise — the brightest comet visible from the Northern Hemisphere in over two decades — passed through the inner solar system at a closest approach to Earth of around 103 million kilometres, its nucleus and dust tail visible to the naked eye in the pre-dawn and post-sunset sky for several weeks in July. This astrophotography print captures Comet Neowise above Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain, the comet’s tail arcing across the night sky above the ancient stones, the monument’s silhouette set against the deep blue of the summer night.
