The Milky Way above Dartmoor's Brentor Church
Rising from an ancient sub-sea lava eruption on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park, Brentor Church is one of the most dramatically positioned buildings in England. At around 330 metres above sea level, the small Norman church sits at the very tip of the volcanic cliff, visible for miles across the Devon moorland. This astrophotography print was taken on a clear night with the Milky Way arching directly above the church tower — a composition that uses the cliff's natural leading lines to draw the eye upward from the dark moorland to the star-filled sky.
